How can we improve internal logistics? Danfoss Drives has stepped closer to finding a solution to this challenge thanks to Robotics Innovation Sprint, where robotics and automation companies across Denmark pitched ideas to the global manufacturing giant. The sprint was so successful that Danfoss Drives is now entering into dialogue with two companies that may well have the very solution they’ve been looking for.
It’s been an exciting process and will be even more exciting to follow how it develops. Last month saw the culmination of a Robotics Innovation Sprint facilitated by Odense Robotics, where robotics and automation companies across Denmark were able to send their ideas to Danfoss Drives and seven were selected to participate in the final two-day sprint at the company headquarters.
After multiple presentations from the participating companies — CesTek Automation, Dansk Ingeniør Service, DanRobotics, EFFIMAT, Intego, STILL Danmark and Interstore — Danfoss Drives selected a joint proposal from EFFIMAT and Intego as the best solution. Now Danfoss Drives will enter into an even closer dialogue with the two companies with the aim of developing a solution to improve their inbound logistics.
”A great success” says Danfoss
The Robotics Innovation Sprint has been a great success and we’ve learned a lot, says Martin Høgsbjerg, Head of SC Technology DK at Danfoss Drives.
We’ve gained greater understanding of the seven innovative companies who participated in the final and not least what robotic companies can offer us in general. At the same time, the robotic companies have gained a greater understanding of what our industry needs now and in the future.
Danfoss was impressed at the companies’ agility and innovative problem-solving approach. Høgsberg said: The companies delivered 100 percent in the workshops. They were very engaged and worked hard on quickly altering their technology to our challenge, creating better and better solutions in each iteration.
Close collaboration
Now Danfoss will enter into an even closer dialogue with EFFIMAT and Intego, who pitched a joint solution – the first time they’ve pitched a prototype in a real-life challenge.
It’s been fantastic to work with Danfoss and solve some of their challenges. It’s also been really exciting to meet up with some of our colleagues and competitors at the sprint, says Søren Johansen, Head of Industrial IT and Automation at Intego.
Together, EFFIMAT and Intego are now looking forward to discussing their solution in more depth with Danfoss Drives and see how the collaboration develops.
