StartUp Mic Aarhus
Do you want to be an entrepreneur, and do you have an innovative robot technology idea? Then StartUp Mic is the place for you.
StartUp Mic is the place to be if you are an entrepreneur or thinking of becoming one. This is the place for innovative ideas related to robot technology, and where entrepreneurs and startups can learn more about the startup community, robotics industry and learn from like-minded people.
On 21 June at The Kitchen, Aarhus University’s startup hub, you can learn more about starting a robot company and get useful tips to help you on the next steps of your journey.
Participants can look forward to hearing from Mads Bendt, Co-founder and CINO of Capra Robotics and Bertil Kirkeby, Marketing Manager at TinyMobileRobots, who will share their insights on starting a startup, how the companies got to where they are today and some tips on starting out in the industry.
Capra Robotics
In 2014, Founder and CINO Mads Bendt invented a new type of wheel frame based on his own needs as a wheelchair user due to a hang glider accident in 1986, which paralysed him from the shoulders down. The invention of the wheel frame led to the foundation of a company with the aim of providing wheelchair users worldwide with access to a new platform.
Despite Mads’ initial aspirations, the wheel frame design did not meet the specific requirements of wheelchair users. He recognised the need to adapt and pivot to explore new possibilities, and in 2019, Capra Robotics was founded.
Capra Robotics aims to revolutionise the use of outdoor mobile robots in inspection and surveillance, urban service and maintainance, and logistics with their robot for multiple uses.
Capra Hircus is a maneuverable outdoor mobile robot designed to easily carry different types of loads. Due to its flexible chassis and large engine power, it can be used for numerous types of tasks from uneven terrain to urban areas, it’s wheel frame allowing it to travel where other robots cannot: on slopes, on grass, in sand, and over curbs. Its range is vast and the technology innovative and trailblazing.
Capra Robotics was awarded Robotics Company of the Year 2022 by Odense Robotics last year. Hear Mads tell the full story at StartUp Mic
TinyMobileRobots
In 2015, Founder and CEO Jens Peder Kristensen discovered a research project that allowed for high-precision markings to be applied autonomously to the ground by a robot on wheels. This concept, originally intended for land surveying use, became the starting point for TinyMobileRobots.
Applying the same technology within the world of sports field marking, TinyMobileRobots now has customers within schools and universities, municipalities, parks and recreation departments, sports clubs, facility management , surveying, construction, civil engineering etc.
The accuracy of the global satellite network in the hands of the user in the middle of a sports field has unleashed a true disruption in the way customers manage field marking, stake-out, etc. Reducing the time needed from 5 man hours to 20 minutes for a regular-sized football field is hugely beneficial for everyone involved in field management across the world.
Headquarters are in Malling, Denmark, but their US company in Kennesaw, Georgia was established in 2022. Last year, TinyMobileRobots also received the Borsen Gazelle Award as Manufacturing Company of the Year 2022. Bertil will share the company’s journey at StartUp Mic.
Hear from other startups:
Four exciting and innovative robotics startups are ready to share their stories with you, when Kasparium, O-Robotics, RoboE, and Akson Robotics take the stage. Here they will talk about their journeys as startups as well as past and current challenges – and of course industry tips!
