Odense Robotics has now established hubs in Aarhus and Copenhagen together with regional key partners. The hubs will help realise the areas’ strong potential by providing robot, automation and drone companies with better opportunities to develop technologies, share knowledge and accelerate growth.
“There has long been a significant growth potential in the robotics, automation and drone industry in Aarhus, mid Jutland, Greater Copenhagen and Zealand. With the establishment of our new hubs in Aarhus and Copenhagen, Odense Robotics can go further in supporting companies in these regions – where we have around 100 members already. We look forward to working with our regional partners to accelerate growth and innovation,” says Mikkel Christoffersen, CEO of Odense Robotics.
Aarhus Hub
The Odense Robotics Aarhus Hub will have a strong focus on outdoor mobile robots, while covering all segments within robotics, automation and drone technologies. The Hub is a collaboration between Odense Robotics, the City of Aarhus and GovTech Midtjylland.
“The Odense Robotics Aarhus Hub will offer the many robot, automation and drone companies in Aarhus and mid Jutland with more opportunities to collaborate, innovate and grow. There’s no doubt that there is huge growth potential in the area – particularly within outdoor mobile robots. We are proud to partner with Odense Robotics and GovTech Midtjylland to establish the Hub, which is now open and ready to support companies,” Bo Fristed, CIO, City of Aarhus.
Aarhus and the central Denmark region have a high concentration of companies within outdoor mobile robots, which meet regularly in a dedicated network. In addition, Aarhus University is home to a wide range of robotics research.
One of the many local companies specialising in outdoor mobile robots is Capra Robotics, whose product is currently being used in Aarhus to gather cigarette butts from the pavement.

There’s a strong robotics network in the area already, so the new Hub gives us even more opportunities to meet, share expertise and access new projects. I’m particularly excited about the Hub’s potential to strengthen activities with outdoor mobile robotics. Demand for outdoor mobile robots is increasing, and the region has unique expertise within this field,” says Mads Bendt, Chief Innovation Officer at Capra Robotics.
The Hub is located in Aarhus city centre at Dokk1, and serves companies and organisations across Aarhus Municipality and the central Denmark region.
Copenhagen Hub
The Odense Robotics Copenhagen Hub serves companies and organisations on the whole of Zealand from its base at DTU Science Park. The location is expected to create strong synergies and new opportunities for accelerating growth and innovation amongst startups, scaleups and SMEs.

By combining our expertise within accelerating startups and scaleups, we hope to create new opportunities for Zealand’s robot, automation and drone companies to connect, grow and innovate,” says Steen Donner, CEO, DTU Science Park.
The robotics, automation and drone industry in the Greater Copenhagen area and Zealand spans a broad range of specialisms including robotics software and automation for healthcare, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. In terms of knowledge and research, DTU, the IT University of Copenhagen and FORCE Technology are home to various robotics research activities, with DTU opening their Center for Collaborative Autonomous Systems late October.
“The robotics industry is growing in Greater Copenhagen and across Zealand, with the emergence of many innovative startups delivering technologies to a wide range of industries. I’m really pleased that the region now has regional hub that can bring companies and academia closer together and tap into new opportunities,” says Steven Friberg, CEO at UXV Technologies, a robot and drone company based in Brøndby.
Odense Robotics will establish a regional hub in Aalborg later this year, which will complete the cluster’s national setup.
