Robots help farmers and nurses – Odense Robotics’ award winners revealed
They have developed the world’s first fully automatic seeding and weeding robot that helps farmers reduce costs of manual labour and energy in a CO2 neutral and environmentally friendly way. Farmdroid has won an array of awards already, but ‘Company of the Year’ from Odense Robotics is special, says Jens Vest-Warming, co-founder and CTO, FarmDroid.
“This award is particularly meaningful for the team at FarmDroid. We wouldn’t be where we are today had it not been for the support we’ve had from Odense Robotics. I am proud that robotics companies across Denmark have voted for us and our way of breaking new ground in the application of robotics technologies. The team are looking forward to displaying the award at our offices in Vejen and continuing our vision of helping farmers and plant breeders in a sustainable way,” says Jens Vest-Warming, who founded the company together with his brother, Kristian Warming.
The winners were revealed at the cluster’s annual conference, where members from across the country were gathered. Nominations and voting for finalists are made by members of Odense Robotics, which comprise of more than 300 robotics, automation and drone companies and organisations.
FarmDroid won over two other strong finalists: QuadSAT and Unicontrol. ‘Company of the Year’ is sponsored by Nykredit Bank.
Startup award goes to Yuman
Yuman won the title ‘Startup of the Year’. The startup from Lyngby has developed a mobile robot that frees up time so nurses can spend more time with patients – increasing job satisfaction and easing the load for busy nurses.
“As a little startup with a big vision, we are very honoured to be awarded ‘Startup of the Year’ by Odense Robotics’ members. Nurses spend a lot of time going back and forth to collect things for patients. But with the help of our robot, a significant proportion of this time can be reduced, enabling nurses to spend time more effectively with patients. We are testing our product right now and we hope to roll it out to nurses across Denmark in the future,” says Sara López Alaguero, Co-founder and CEO, Yuman, who features on the distinguished Forbes Under 30 2023 list.
Yuman won over two other strong finalists: NAUST Robotics and KOBOTS Company. ‘Startup of the Year’ is sponsored by PLM Group.
