Denmark and Singapore enter robotics alliance
Denmark and Singapore’s national robotics organisations have entered into a strategic partnership with the shared vision of creating new growth opportunities in the two countries. A new collaboration agreement between Odense Robotics and the National Robotics Programme in Singapore aims to drive robotics development and adoption.
Robots bring many benefits such as increased productivity and overcoming workforce shortages. It’s the same story in Denmark and Singapore, which is why the two countries are now forging closer ties.
A new collaboration agreement between Odense Robotics, Denmark’s national robotics cluster, and Singapore’s National Robotics Programme, a nationwide platform that works with partner agencies and organisations to catalyse the robotics ecosystem, aims to foster stronger collaboration and accelerate robotics adoption in both countries.
“Singapore is not only the gateway to the south-east Asian market but also home to one of the world’s leading robotics ecosystems with many growth opportunities for Danish robotics companies. Odense Robotics is excited to enter this collaboration agreement with Singapore’s National Robotics Programme. Together we can create new growth opportunities for robotics companies in Singapore and Denmark – and expand the adoption of robotics solutions,” says Odense Robotics CEO Søren Elmer Kristensen.
The agreement was signed today in Singapore, where Odense Robotics is currently visiting Singapore’s robotics ecosystem together with several Danish robotics companies in collaboration with the Danish Trade Council. Tapping into synergies can benefit companies and organisations in Denmark and Singapore, says the Chief Executive of the National Robotics Programme.
“The Odense Robotics ecosystem has achieved a level of success that many other nations aspire towards. Since our visit in 2022, we have fostered meaningful cooperation with our friends from Denmark. With this LOI, we hope to continue building stronger collaborations to promote the exchange of tech, solutions, and talent between our nations,” says Prof Quek Tong Boon, Chief Executive at the National Robotics Programme.
The agreement will explore joint activities such as:
- Workshops, seminars and exhibitions to mutually enhance robotics capabilities and promote Danish and Singapore robotics solutions.
- Annual matchmaking and networking event between the two ecosystems.
- Research and project applications.
Like Denmark, Singapore has a vibrant and growing robotics ecosystem with more than 250 companies and several leading robotics academic institutions.
Singapore is the second most automated country in the world measured by the density of industrial robots in manufacturing, according to the International Federation of Robotics. At the same time, robot deployment is expected to increase in other key sectors such as aviation and maritime, logistics, facilities management and healthcare. To accelerate robotics adoption, the Singaporean government has various support schemes, including funding up to 50 per cent of companies’ procurement costs.
