Smooth Robotics enhances deliveries

Smooth Robotics recently enhanced their supply chain processes and now has a secure structure in place. Thanks to a recent supply chain optimisation project with Odense Robotics, the cobot welding company is already seeing the effects: improved supplier relations, cost-effective products and structured use of resources.
Smooth Robotics develops an easy-to-use and intuitive cobot welding package (the SmoothTool) that helps welding robots deliver perfect results, requiring less manpower and improving working environments. The company is focused on scaling up and needed to reevaluate different aspects of their business, namely their supply chain, to elevate their business.
Due to limited resources and prior supply issues, the scaleup reached out to Odense Robotics for a conversation on how to improve their deliveries and supplier relations. This resulted in a thorough evaluation of their entire production, which the company knew they needed to gain a better overview and control of component delivery and their overall supply chain. By analysing their needs and earlier errors in product deliveries, Smooth Robotics gained new insights and was able to establish new secure processes.
“Our collaboration with Odense Robotics helped us realise which areas of our supply chain to look deeper into – areas we previously did not think to dive into due to a lack of time and resources. Questions were asked that made us reevaluate our purchasing and suppliers, and set up new secure workflows and processes, enabling us to improve our services and deliver the best possible products to our customers,” says Mark Kromann, COO at Smooth Robotics.
Greater focus on supplier relations and structure
Through the collaboration with Odense Robotics, the Smooth Robotics team knew where to start when assessing their needs and earlier supply errors.
“Smooth Robotics has a strong foundation and quality product. By giving them the tools, they needed to evaluate and strengthen their processes, the team gained great peace of mind, which in turn enabled them to take their business to new heights,” says Kim Als, Business Development Manager at Odense Robotics, who helped guide the company through the project.
Using their new tools and based on their assessments of new potential suppliers and partners, pricing, tracking, quality and delivery times, the team was able to set up new stronger processes, partner conditions and a division of responsibilities.
“Once we dived deeper into purchasing and deliveries, it was clear to see where we needed to improve our processes, but also our overall collaboration and conditions with suppliers. Once we became more critical of this and established a structure, our deliveries and quality assurance soared,” says Mark Kromann and continues:
“We want to be able to deliver the best possible products always – which is why we needed to establish new plans and partnerships to rely on. Thanks to the project with Odense Robotics, we now know how to focus on our supply chain using our existing resources – without it effecting our sales and tech development. Our product is more cost-efficient now thanks to our new setup and the structure smoother.”
