AI-MATTERS
Artificial intelligence has significant potential to create value in the manufacturing industry, for example by optimising production through robotics and data, or by reducing energy consumption. By using AI, companies can create better products, solutions and services. The EU project AI-MATTERS (AI in Manufacturing TesTing and experimentation facilities for EuRopean SMEs) will establish test and experimentation facilities and aims increase the robustness and flexibility of the European manufacturing sector by implementing the latest developments within artificial intelligence and robotics technology.

AI-MATTERS
Artificial intelligence has significant potential to create value in the manufacturing industry, for example by optimising production through robotics and data, or by reducing energy consumption. By using artificial intelligence, companies can create better products, solutions and services for the customers.
That’s why Odense Robotics is part of a new European effort called AI-MATTERS that will establish test and experimentation facilities from 2023-2027. The aim is to increase the robustness and flexibility of the European manufacturing sector by implementing the latest developments within artificial intelligence and robotics technology.
AI-MATTERS is one of the 4 sectorial TEFs launched by the Digital Europe programme. Behind the initiative are 25 big research, technology and innovation organisations in a consortium, where each member brings their expertise in manufacturing for different sectors such as automotive, space and mobility, textile, recycling, etc. The initiative has locations in eight European countries, including Denmark, and is one of the EU’s four big initiatives within AI.
Purpose
Together with the European robotics industry and manufacturing industry, AI-MATTERS aims to mature new intelligent robotic solutions by building a network of physical and digital facilities across Europe, focused on increasing the resilience and the flexibility of the European manufacturing sector through the deployment of the latest developments in AI, robotics, smart and autonomous systems - thereby helping tech companies that are close to market with solutions.
Ultimately, it’s about ensuring that the European manufacturing industry becomes a global leader within the use of artificial intelligence and robots.
Services
AI-MATTERS will provide an extensive catalogue of services spanning the following key topics: factory-level optimization, human-robot interaction, circular economy and adoption of emerging AI enabling technologies.
Eligibility and prices will be available at the launch of the initial catalogue.
Partners
AI-MATTERS will establish test and experimentation facilities from 2023-2027.
The initiative has locations in eight European countries (Denmark, Germany, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, and Spain), and is one of the EU’s four big initiatives within AI.
Danish Technological Insitute is heading Danish efforts with collaboration from Odense Robotics, Alexandra Institute and Force Technology.
Funding
AI-MATTERS is an initiative from the European Commission with a budget of 450 million kroner, which will be invested over the next five years. Around 50 million kroner will be invested in Danish facilities.
